Godzilla vs. Kong

I've been excited about this movie since the day I saw the trailer a couple months back. The story of Kong and Godzilla has been famous for a long time and it finally hit the modern screen.

Both Kong and Godzilla have had their own movies in the past decade and they've all led up to this movie. Godzilla vs. King Kong a tale as old as time (no pun intended).

The movie of full of stars such as Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza González, Julian Dennison, Kyle Chandler, and Demián Bichir. With a cast as star-studded as this, the movie had a lot of potential. Luckily it was able to pull through.

As advertised major monster battles are a huge part of the movie and of course, make the movie fun to watch. Not knowing who will win each altercation makes the audience that much more engaged. But also the visuals during each are amazing and beautiful to watch.

This movie had a huge amount of characters and with a movie like this the plot usually fails or they try to jam too much into it, but Godzilla vs. Kong seems to find a good balance that keeps the audience entertained.

Another good thing the movie does is introducing more lore from the monster universe. It does a good job of showing us how and where all the monsters in the world originated from. And along with this, the movie is able to humanize Kong just a bit more.

But the one place this movie makes its mistake is the end of the film. While yes the final fight is awesome to watch it is all too predictable. It's the same old story. Two adversaries who fought each other the whole movie team up to defeat the big bad villain. Because of this, the stakes don't seem that high.

Overall this movie was enjoyable and fun to watch. I would definitely put it on your watchlist if you haven't seen it already.

  1. I watched this movie as soon as it released on HBO and I genuinely had a grin across my face the whole time. Just seeing these two clash along with the surprise towards the end made my day. I felt like it was a fantastic culmination of the movies that came before this. Hopefully we see more movies from this universe.
