Dad Stop Embarrassing Me! - Episode 1
Dad Stop Embarrassing Me is another addition to Netflix's growing group of sitcoms. This one in particular stars Jamie Fox who also produces the show. What is also impressive about this show is that it was shot during the ongoing pandemic.
The basic idea of the show is about a teenage girl whose mother passed away and is forced to live with her rich dad in Atlanta. Jammie Fox stars as the father Brian Dixon and Kyla-Drew as Sasha Dixon.
This show is just all around not that great. It brings nothing to the table. It just has the same aspects as any other sitcom. While the main plotline is original the execution is not. Dad Stop Embarrassing Me does nothing to distinguish itself from other shows.
Its cast has a few stars who are hilarious in their own right, but they just don't seem to gell together on this show. The acting is stale, cringeworthy, and can get pretty bad at times. The show isn't even that funny. There are a few good jokes every once and a while, but none of them are really noteworthy. Even Jamie Fox's jokes fell short.
The storyline wasn't any better. The plot was just too simple and was poorly executed. Sometimes it made you forget what the episode was supposed to even be about.
But there is one singular thing I did like. That thing being the 3rd person aspect. Throughout a few random scenes, Jamie Fox's character will stop mid-sentence and talk to the audience. It was confusing at times, but I enjoyed it.
Overall this new Netflix sitcom isn't that good and is very forgettable after you watch it. So if you haven't watched it then you aren't missing out.
One thing i love about your review blogs, is that no matter how bad the show or movie is, you always highlight the positives instead of turning your review into a fully negative rant like I've seen reviewers do on IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like it! I try not to be negative all the time or positive when reviewing things.
